Sector Tarım is producing at European standards based on automation in its newly established smart production facility.
As a brand from Anatolia, Sector Tarım has established a significant presence in the industry in Turkey by exporting to many countries around the world. The company is realizing production at European standards based on automation in its newly established smart production facility. Fuat Kunduracı, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sector Tarım A.Ş., stated that they have come this far due to the great dreams, determination, and confidence they have in themselves and especially in their country, as graduates of the Agricultural Faculty in 1998. He said, "We entered the sector in 2002 by selling plant nutrition products." Kunduracı noted that they went through three challenging years for the market to accept them, and added:
"We decided that there was a gap in Turkey for quality products in plant nutrition. In 2006, we partnered with a Spanish company and became the first firm to import in the Central Anatolia Region. We quickly reached all regions of Turkey. We started importing for nine companies. In 2009, we became the leading liquid fertilizer importer in Turkey. We also began to enter the seed and pesticide groups that Turkish farmers needed. We started to bring the products of very important pharmaceutical and seed companies in the world together with Turkish farmers. Currently, we have 19 solution partners in the plant nutrition, seed, and pesticide groups."
Kunduracı stated, "Due to the size of our imports and our discomfort with the outflow of foreign currency, we decided to establish our own production facility in 2010." He added, "We started feasibility studies and, by establishing our capital structure, laid the first stone of our facility in the Konya 4th Organized Industrial Zone in 2014, where we currently operate. In the early months of 2016, we put our facility into operation in accordance with EU standards. The Sector Tarım Smart Production Facility has a system that prioritizes quality at every stage of production, from the entrance of raw materials to the shipment of products. Our Smart Production Facility has become one of Turkey's most modern facilities, built in accordance with EU standards, within an environmentally friendly and human-respecting production model. We made an investment of approximately 20 million Turkish Lira. After our facility was established, foreign partners showed interest, but we did not want that. In the coming years, we have plans to further expand our facility. We are considering establishing a new factory in the 5th Organized Industrial Zone in 2017, and we might consider foreign partnerships at that stage."
2018 Target: Working with 101 Engineers
Kunduracı stated that they have obtained over 300 varieties of products, saying, "We have a production capacity of 8,400 tons of liquid plant nutrition and 9,600 tons of solid powder. Our facility is currently operating at 50% capacity. When we activate our newly established chemistry laboratory, we will add 250 new varieties of products to our portfolio." He explained that they have 24 distributors and 1,450 dealers across Turkey, saying, "We manage this system with 11 regional managers and 24 engineers. We aim to reach 101 engineers in 2018."
Goal: To Export 52% of Production
Kunduracı mentioned that they have agreements with 17 countries in Europe and will start exporting to these countries in June 2017, stating, "We established this facility to work with European countries. We export to countries such as Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Iraq, and Turkistan. We believe we can do great business in the European and Asian markets. Currently, we send 10% of our production for export. We aim to export 52% of our production within two years. We will participate in 24 international fairs within two years. We will attend agricultural fairs in countries such as China, Morocco, and Lebanon."
